Going to the store

I’m going to the store  
for dirt and water, yes more!  
What a challenge to my intellect  
But at the store they’re perfect  
Wrapped in cleaned plastic  
I’d say it’s worth it!

Although my ancestors well before me  
Had no such luxury  
And I’m often reminded: we’re the lucky  
To be free to purchase the earth in plastic.

I can hear them now…  
Ascendants mumbling and bumbling  
So befuddled, yet so humbling  
Aren’t we sentient beings, don’t we know  
What parts of this life are just for show?

Life is more simple than we think  
We are disconnected, we’re missing links  
The earth will always provide for free  
And the tycoons always charge a fee
