Poverty as a crime
Look at daily booking reports in your community, and read the arrest reports.
As uou read, ask yourself: "If this person had their basic needs met, would they have committed this crime?" if the answer is "no" then it is an example of poverty as a crime. What you'll find is that most crime is poverty as a crime.
Most people I talk to seem to intellectually understand that poverty is a crime, but also don't seem to mind it very much. We have been conditioned to view poor people as "bad" and rich people as "good." Who wonders why?
